Water Quality Update - August 29

The secchi disk reading on 8/29 was 2.5 meters (8 feet) which is very close to last weeks reading. This means that the water quality category continues to be poor. Unfortunately, we continue to have the whitening of the water in Great Meadow Steam that is presumably caused by a chemical reaction between the dying algae and the sediment. The oxygen content in this water is very low. Dr. Wain, from 7 Lakes Alliance has advised everyone to stay away from the water at the dam and in Great Meadow Stream.
