2025 Loon Count

The Loon Count, sponsored by the Maine Audubon Society, occurs annually on the third Saturday of July from 7 - 7:30 a.m. The North Pond Association works in partnership with the Audubon Society to perform the annual loon count.

 

This year’s Loon Count occurred on July 19th.  A total of 27 adult loons and one chick were sighted in North Pond and in Little North Pond.

This is number is higher than expected and it is likely that some loons were counted more than once. However, statewide the loon numbers have increased which is a very welcome finding!
