About the event

On Sunday, March 3, 2024, we will be hosting a Pike Ice Fishing Derby from 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM here on North Pond. There are two divisions for this derby. The first division is for individuals ages 16 and older and the second division is for children ages 15 and under.  Both division prizes are determined by heaviest pike. The first division prizes are set at $500 for 1st, $200 for 2nd and $100 for 3rd place. The child division prize is a lifetime fishing license. Ticket sales will end at 11:59 PM on March 2nd, 2023.

Derby Rules and Details

  1. You are responsible for knowing and following all applicable Maine Fishing Laws and Rules (Laws & Rules: Fishing: Fishing & Boating: Maine Dept of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife).
  2. You are responsible for ensuring the ice is safe for yourself, your equiptment and any guests you bring with you.
  3. We will create a Facebook event and will regularly post leaderboard updates.
  4. The weigh-in station will be setup in front of the grange on the ice and will accept submissions anytime after 6:00 AM. We are working off the honor system and expect that all pike were caught on North Pond and not before 6:00 AM.
  5. We reserve the right to reject any submission from those who are suspected of cheating.
  6. Do not forget to print out your ticket or have it available on your phone. This will help us streamline the process of verifying your registration. Children must be accompanied by an adult during their weigh-in.
  7. We will record your name along with the weight, length and the time you weighed in for any tie breakers.
  8. Your pike must be free of all snow, ice and not be frozen solid prior to be weighed in.
  9. We will ensure everyone gets weighed in within reason if there's a line of people at 2PM
  10. Once your submission is recorded you are free to take your fish back with you. If you do not wish to keep your pike, we are happy to keep at the weigh-in for others to take. We will notch the tail fin of any fish left behind.

Additional Comments

It's expected that trash will accumulate during this time, but to help keep the lake clean we will be leaving boxes of trash bags at few locations for you to have. If you bring your bags of trash over to the weigh-in station, we will take them to the dump for you.

We are also looking for volunteers who would be willing to help do a quick sweep of the lake after the derby to help pick up any leftover garbage bags that were missed.
